When to Create a Wedding Website
According to MagnetStreet, purveyors of fine wedding stationary, you should make your website at least a year before the date. Which makes sense, because you can use your wedding website as a place to keep your guests up to date with changes.
Basically, when you create a wedding website, once you pick a date, make your website. You want to do this as early as possible, because your website can compliment your save-the-date and invitation cards.
You can use your website to contact people quickly, or if you don’t have someone’s mailing address. While it’s not as classy as a nice invitation, people can’t loose a website. Send them and invitation and do a website. You can also use the website to gather email addresses, and use a mailing list manager like Mailchimp (free) to send out well-designed emails to all of your guests.
Get a Catchy Domain
It’s important that you pick a good domain name for your wedding website. You want to pick something people are going to remember, like your names. An example would be MyahAndJulian.com. Many domain names are already taken, but if you use your names, odds are low someone else already reserved it. You can do a search for a domain name here.
So, when to create a wedding website? The sooner, the better. You can use it to keep your guests up-to-date, share directions to your venue, or post any last minutes changes that ineveiblaly arise.

Your customer expect you, and every other business, to have a website. In the same way customers expect you to have business hours, great customer service, and business cards. It’s part of the deal in the 21st century.
Younger people will always visit a company’s websites before contacting them. If you don’t have one, they won’t contact you.

What is WordPress? Your All-In-One Website Tool
WordPress is an amazing tool that does hundreds of thing to help make your website. It’s called a content management system (CMS) because it organized the content (words, pictures, video, and pages) of your website. Instead of coding, you can use their tools to add words, pictures and videos to pages with drag-and-drop tools.
And, it’s completely free, made and maintained by enthusiastic volunteers.

So what is WordPress? What does it do? WordPress makes it easy to add a contact form to your website. Or an e-commerce store to sell things online. It can help you with little stuff, like adding social media links to your pages. It can help you with big stuff, like creating a blog where people can post comments and engaged with visitors. How to Install WordPress
The part most people don’t understand is how to install WordPress on their website. I created a free detailed guide for beginners on how to install WordPress, and all the other things you need, like getting hosting and a domain name.
WordPress is used by one-third of all websites on the internet. It’s easy to see why: no coding, infinitely customizable, and totally free. Give WordPress a try the next time you are making a website, you will be pleasantly surprised.
What is WordPress? A Beginner’s Guide
As a web developer, all my clients ask me: what do I need to create a website? These 4 essential step are what you need to create a website. In this article, we are going to show you everything you need to build your site.
What do I Need to Create a Website? You Need a Plan
It’s tempting to skip this part, and get right to the making your website part, but no! Your website will be a mess if you don’t make a plan first. Use a free text editor like Google Docs, and make a separate document for every page you want to have on your website.
Upload all the pictures, text, and video you want into these documents. Organize the document in a way that makes sense to you. Make sure you have all the content you want planned out before moving on.
Trust me, rookies always skip this step, but the pros know this is essential.
You Need a Domain
A domain is your address on the internet: google.com is a domain, example.com is a domain, WebsitesExplainedSimply.com is a domain. You can pick anything you want, unless someone else picked it first. To do a full search of all available domains, go here and see what domains are available.
Pick a domain that is easy to remember, easy to spell, and describes you or your brand. Buy the domain (should be around $14 a year). This step is required, everyone does this, and once you have one, you have a slice of the internet.
You Need Hosting
Your website is made up of files, just like your computer’s desktop. There are lots of files and folders, at least one for each web page. But unlike your computer, you can’t keep them on your desktop. It doesn’t work, I’ve tried.
What you need is hosting. Hosting is a company that holds on to your website files, and hands them out to people visiting your website. Now, there are free hosting companies, but there is always a catch, and free hosting has horrible SEO (people won’t see your website on Google).
Build your website right, and get a good hosting company. A good hosting company will help you build your website, every step of the way. I use KnownHost for high quality hosting, but if you want to get started as fast as possible, go with WP Engine.
Read reviews on your hosting company before you decide. There are a lot of bad apples out there, and with hosting, you always get what you pay for.
You Need a Way to Add Content
If you know how to code a website, build it on your computer and upload it to your hosting company’s server.
If you don’t know how to code, that’s fine, there are lots of programs that will help you. The most powerful and most flexible option (and the most free!) is WordPress.
There are no fees, it has thousands of “plugins” that add new functionality to your website (also free), and you can customize it as much as you want. WordPress helps you pick a design for your website, and makes it easy to add the content you made in step 1.
Make a new page in WordPress, copy and paste your content from your document, and click Publish.
Done: You just made a website! You will never again have to ask “What do I Need to Create a Website?”. Now share it with others, and post it in the comments below!
